The Beverly Institute, Inc. " Changing the Way School Is Done"
|
Mission Statement
The Beverly Institute (TBI) was founded in 2003 in an effort to help students remain on track to accomplishing their
educational goals. It is our mission to assist in the personal and academic development of our students through positive
encouragement, mentoring, and unconditional love. TBI targets individuals who have been lost in the shuffle for a variety of
reasons; yet still have a desire to learn. We are a family oriented, Christian based school that teaches and supports the
“whole” student; by investing personal time and attention into the stability of our children.

About Us
The Beverly Institute (TBI) was founded by LaTanya and Mark Dewberry in 2003. We decided
to name the center after my mother, Beverly Jean Shelton, (1950-2006),in honor of her life and
the love she had for humanity. Originally, I came home to home school my daughter who was
two years behind. This experience opened a door for me to find my true calling which was
helping parents take control of their children’s education. TBI works with students that are one-
to- three years behind in school or just need a break from the traditional school settings. We
call it our place of Transition. TBI assists in selecting the right curriculum for each student at an
individual level to ensure their schooling experience is a great one. The benefits of our
specially based curriculum help facilitators and teachers provide one-on-one help with learning
complicated lessons. Furthermore, no one student can be held back by another student based
on his or her understanding of a lesson. All students work according to their own pace charts
provided by TBI or FLVS. TBI has reached many students with learning disabilities and
helped molded them into the direction of academic success. Upon reaching this success,
each child can move on to the next level, which is entering back into the traditional classrooms
anywhere. The success rate of TBI is at 80% with students entering back into traditional
schools (public/private) at their appropriate grade level. TBI utilizes the Florida Virtual School
Programs along with special book curriculum to help students that are multiple years behind
get caught up or just need more time to learn a particular concept. TBI has worked personally
with Florida Virtual School’s staff and with over forty of their teachers for more than four years.
TBI is a family-oriented, Christian based help center for not only the children but for our parents
as well. Parents are encouraged to assist in the educating of their child and our welcome to
the center at any time. Caring and loving parents are the leading aid in the success of a child.

My mother and daughter many years ago. I named my daughter Beverly after my wonderful mother.
